3scale provides a secure and scalable SaaS API Management infrastructure enabling Internet-based companies to secure, control, monitor and monetize the online distribution and usage of the data, content and services they make available via an API or a Web Service.
Based in Barcelona, Spain, and Sunnyvale, California, the company’s team is committed to providing high-value, cost-effective solutions for API and Web Services providers.
Steven Willmott (Ph.D.), Co-founder and CEO
Steven was previously the research director of one of the leading European research groups in Europe on distributed systems and Artificial Intelligence at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. He brings 10 years of technical experience in Web Services, Semantic Web, network technology and the management of large-scale international R&D teams.
Guillaume Balas (MBA), CMO
Guillaume has previously been a senior strategy consultant with Oliver Wyman, advising clients across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. His responsibilities along his 7 years experience as consultant for OW, and previously Devoteam, focus on business development, strategic planning and operations management in the IT and Telecom sectors. Guillaume holds an Industrial engineering degree from ENSAM, Paris, France and a MBA from ESADE Business School, Barcelona, Spain.
Martin Tantow (MBA), Co-founder, General Manager US office
Martin has previously been a senior strategy consultant with Oliver Wyman, advising clients across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. He has held senior management positions within T-Mobile International in Germany and the UK where he led T-Mobile’s alliance activities. Martin holds an MBA from LMU University, Munich, Germany.
Josh Stein, Director of Business Development, USA & Canada
Prior to joining 3scale, Josh founded Stein Capital Advisors, LLC, a business advisory firm assisting client in the development of business plans, financial projection models, acquisition structuring and due diligence. He was formerly a manager at Unext.com, an online business school. Josh was a staff accountant and consultant at Arthur Andersen, LLP providing Audit and consulting services in the firms the Derivatives and Treasury Risk Management Group. Josh received his Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois.
Carlos Merida (Ph.D.), Senior management
Carlos brings 10 years of coding and management experience in technical projects ranging from inter-organisational teams to his own off-the-wall ideas. He holds a computer sciences degree from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain with honours for his research collaboration in Hewlett Packard Labs in Bristol, U.K.
Adam Cigánek, System development
Ruby on Rails, PHP and testdriven guru – keeping 3scale on rails and tests checking out green.
Omar Sahyoun, System development
Design and front end usability specialist, likes to play around with CSS and Javascript and is trying hard to make 3scale usable. Previous experience in web design (multiple projects) and holds a BA in Biology.
