Like many others we were affected by the Amazon EC2 outage this AM which knocked out first one set of machines then another. Our load balancing worked initially but then failed after the second outage before switching to non-ec2 machines. This meant an outage of around 30minutes total with no service or partial service.

While the original fault wasn’t ours we strive to make incidents like that invisible to your APIs which didn’t happen this time. We’ll shortly be upgrading the failover system to cover more cases – our apologies that these fixes weren’t in place today.
