Wallgreens announced it’s new API for photo printing today and with it the Kicksend hit the ground running with integration for photo-printing from their Android and iPhone Apps.

(from TheNextWeb): The Y Combinator firm has teamed up with pharmacy chain Walgreens to offer the convient feature which lets users send up to 30 full-quality photos to their local Walgreens store. Most impressively, the chosen prints will be ready to collect within an hour.

This is a great example of how open infrastructure can create opportunities which otherwise wouldn’t exist – how much would bespoke integration for Kicksend have cost? would it even have happened? It’s a win for both parties that was made easy by API.

As programmableweb puts it – If your neighbourhood retailer has an API Where is yours?
